A desiccant dehumidifier is much different from normal models in the method they use to pull humidity from the air and the amount that they can pull. 30% to 50% is the EPA recommended amount of humidity in home air, as levels that are lower or higher can agitate respiratory problems in many people. Also unlike standard models, desiccant models are much more effective in areas that have a low amount of humidity.

Small dehumidifiers can be extremely useful items for families that contain only half of the household who have difficulty breathing in humid air is too humid. While they are not effective for covering the entire range of a big room like bigger units, or even the entire expanse of a house like total home dehumidifiers, they are effective on smaller rooms or half of a big area. Someone who requires a dehumidifying system in order to breathe easily but has no other viable ways to do so over a large area of the home would do best to look into compact systems.

Not many hotels offer purifiers in their rooms, and if you are going to a friend or family’s house for a few days they may not either. It is better to be safe than sorry with your respiratory health, even if you only use an air purifier every once in a while.
