Untidiness certainly can cause stress and anxiety. It is incredibly irritating to never be able to find things when you require them, especially if you are in a hurry. Losing your car keys or your glasses or your wallet in your disorderly home is a sign of a lack of organization, but it is a pain in the neck too because it wastes so much time and usually just when you do not have time to waste.

Stress is a very big part of life for a large proportion of people. Every day of their lives. This is a problem, because stress feeds on itself. You get stressed because you reckon there is a chance that you may not succeed at a job. This makes you worry, worrying diverts part of your attention away from the matter at hand. With less of your resources, less of you attention on the job, there is clearly less likelihood of you getting it done properly. In severe cases this can result in low self esteem and depression. It is a vicious circle.
